We desperately need civilian oversight of the religion of Scientism that appears and pretends to offer truth to government agencies on a convenient for profit and for power basis, buying media propaganda and legislative votes all while influencing the educational system to not teach critical thinking. "By decomposing government agencies into small, comprehensible subunits and pairing each subunit with a citizen oversight committee". Pick one agency and one subunit? Write a 'how it might proceed' scenario?
Say, vaccine approval at FDA? Or one specific drug? How would it work? What would the specific "oversight area" be? How would the oversight really work? What would happen if agencies have overlapping areas of regulatory authority?
How would it be a real difference from what happens now? Aren't civilians working at FDA?
Wouldn't it come down to who believes in what science? Would it become epistemological debates? What is truth in Science? It is rarely if ever definitive.
Won't this make the bureaucracy even bigger?
Will this system be more invulnerable to corruption than the present one?
How about we start by simply not allowing private companies to fund the FDA? And stop allowing the CDC to seek profit? Stop the revolving door between private companies and public regulators?
